In all my life I have never seen any evidence that praying achieves anything. If prayer really worked, there would be no need for doctors or hospitals. If some divine spirit was protecting you, there would be no need for you to take out insurance. There would be no droughts, no wars and no disasters. Whenever an airplane crashes and one person lives you can guarantee that he will say that he prayed and God saved him. Never mentions the hundreds who prayed and died.

Going to church on Sunday does not make you a Christian. Unless you live your life according you your Bible, and hardly anyone does, you cannot honestly claim to be a true Christian and, according to that same Bible, you will not go to heaven. The Bible is very specific about certain lifestyles but not many preachers will get into the recommended way to be a real Christian. Can you imagine him telling you to sell off all your possessions and to donate all the proceeds to the poor?
